Artistic expression is an important form of communication for people with little or no
vocabulary or limited vocal ability. Araluen’s long-established Art Program provides an opportunity for clients to develop a sense of achievement and belonging via engagement in the artistic process. Dedicated studio spaces at Lower Plenty and Rosanna are social and productive environments accommodating clients of all skill levels and abilities.

Drawing, painting and 3D work are offered using a wide range of mediums. Small group sizes allow for an individualised approach to be taken. Specialist Art Staff assist participants to build technical skills whilst guiding them to follow their own creative instincts and explore themes of personal choice. Clients are supported to be as autonomous and independent as possible with work produced being an honest representation of each person’s unique vision.

Over time, many participants have developed a strong ‘signature’ style. Araluen’s “Art Connects: Sponsor an Artist” Program assists these more advanced artists market and exhibit their work. Click here for more details
